Recording Locations

Britannia Bridge, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

On a New Year's day exploration of the under regions of George Stephenson's famous Victorian railway bridge, members of Parking Non-Stop chanced upon a piece of derelict rusting marine machinery. When coaxed into activity, it provided just the right kind of creaking rhythms to fit in with the collective's "rural industrial" aesthetic. A recording was immediately made and used as the basis of a new piece of music.

Ucheldre Centre, Holyhead

Parking Non-Stop's second public performance took place in the Ucheldre Art Centre in Holyhead, Anglesey in an unusual lunch-time event entitled "The Geographies Of Chance" . The performance served as a taster for the forthcoming multi media project "The Archaeology Of Coincidence".

The afternoon event included poetry from Ian Davidson and Sculpture from Wanda Zyborska as well as sound design and a live performance from Parking Non-Stop.

Some general ambience was recorded on the city's U-Bahn system, along with the performance of a Prenzlauerburg busker, entertaining early evening bar-goers with his interpretation of Oasis' "Look It Back In Anger" (?!?)

Park, Warsaw

Whilst visiting Warsaw's eternal flame against fascism, Parking Non-Stop chanced upon a group of buskers playing in the park. They stood out from the usual street musicians by way of their progressive rock/jazz fusion style. A few minutes of their performance was documented for the PN-S archives.

Some general bar ambience and conversation was captured in a bar in Warsaw's Old Town.

Forest near Bialowieza, Eastern Poland

Sounds of a European Bison were recorded in a reserve area, followed by those of a pair of fighting red squirrels in the woods on the bicycle ride back to Bialowieza.

The European Bison recorded by Parking Non-Stop in Bielowieza 31/7/03 and subsequently used to construct rhythm tracks for the track "Species Corridor" at PN-S studios.
